Job description

Job Summary:
The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the nonprofit, applied research division of the Georgia Institute of Technology, seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer for their Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL). The role involves designing, developing, and testing software applications, managing software development teams, and providing technical leadership while utilizing modern software engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
• Perform software development, debugging, modification, enhancement, and documentation
• Design, test, and develop computer software in order to meet program requirements
• Apply expertise in computing systems to define requirements and develop software designs recognizing limitations of target hardware platforms
• Develop and maintain kernel and user-level software and scripts
• Contribute to research reports, presentations, white papers, and competitive proposals
• Create and analyze network protocols
Qualifications:
Required:
• Experience with troubleshooting computing system level issues
• Experience with Linux, UNIX or Windows
• Scripting language experience such as python, bash, etc
• Knowledgeable in version control software such as GIT
• Experience managing groups of engineers in the planning and exercising of integration and test activities.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, and customer interfacing activities
• 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
• 3 years of related experience with a Masters’ degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
• 0 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
• Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
Preferred:
• Active Secret Clearance
• Experience in software engineering and development
• Test automation tooling
• Experience with the basics of RF lab equipment to test and troubleshoot EW systems
• Complex programs that involved hardware, software, communications and networking
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter and ability to work in a team environment
