Position Overview
Mid-level role supporting EPC project design work for power generation projects. Designer are responsible for developing detailed raceway designs including cable tray and above ground conduit from concept to completion. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to approach construction-drive engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

We are a high performing team of engineers and designers that develop projects through the project life-cycle engaging exciting projects throughout North America. Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.
Location
This position can be based in any of the following office locations: Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; Phoenix/Tempe, AZ; New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in office arrangement once the new office is established.
Responsibilities
• Design cable tray, grounding and lighting systems from concept to completion
• Perform calculations to size and check allowable fill in conduits and cable tray systems according to NEC requirements
• Routes electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule
• Perform layout of electrical equipment in electrical buildings
• Develops 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills
• Checks and navigates in the 3D models for interferences and constructability
• Perform calculations to size pull boxes according to NEC requirements
• Design and draft intermediate electrical drawings
• Little to no supervision required to apply standard correctly to design
• Initiates development of personal objectives aligned with those of the organization
• Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity
• Complies with company standards to produce quality deliverables
• Completes miscellaneous tasks to support project development
• Participates in project meetings as required
Qualifications
• At least 5 years' experience in electrical design
• Power Generation experience preferred
• Experience in SmartPlant 3D
• Experience in AutoCAD or MicroStation
• Experience designing cable tray from concept to completion
• Experience in grounding systems
• Experience utilizing the NEC
• Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment
• Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment
• Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English language

Base Compensation: $73,000/yr - $76,000/yr
