Job description

THK Manufacturing of America, Inc. (TMA) located in Hebron, Ohio is looking for a bilingual Japanese speaking individual to support effective communication between Japanese-speaking and English-speaking staff in a manufacturing environment. This position responsibilities would include interpretation, translation, and select administrative support.

Interpretation

  • Serve as an interpreter for meetings, presentations, interviews, and on-the-floor training sessions as needed.
  • Provide interpretation support during visits from auditors or other non-THK external parties.
  • Assist employees with day-to-day communication needs across departments.
Translation
  • Translate written materials for TMA staff, including but not limited to controlled operation sheets for new or revised manufacturing processes, presentations, and email communications.
Cultural Liaison
  • Act as a cultural liaison between Japanese and American employees.
  • Provide guidance and consultation related to problem solving, conflict resolution, cultural awareness, and employee-relations matters.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret between Japanese and English with minimal preparation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills. Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential, sensitive, and proprietary information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word).
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in Japanese Language, East Asian Studies, or a related field, or High School Diploma/GED with JLPT Level 2 (or equivalent).
Experience
  • 1–2 years of professional translation and/or interpretation experience preferred
