Job description

Software Engineer II
IsI Enterprises is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer II to be an integral part of a fast-paced agile development team. The developer will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and supporting an industry leading software platform. As a full-stack engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of both our backend services and frontend components.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to design, develop, and enhance features for our enterprise web application. Implement scalable and efficient back-end solutions using Kotlin, and design, develop, and maintain high-quality front-end components using React to deliver an exceptional user experience. Work closely with engineers to define and implement APIs that facilitate business use cases, with a focus on secure integration, proper logging and monitoring, and clear documentation.
Security-First Development
Embed secure coding practices into development work, including input validation, authentication and authorization controls, least-privilege access, and encryption in transit and at rest. Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to ensure code quality, consistency, and the identification and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
Quality, Reliability, and Operations
Debug and remediate issues discovered by team members, users, and test automation in a timely manner. Monitor the performance and security posture of our application in production and take action to ensure reliability.
Collaboration and Process
Work with a fast-paced agile team through pull requests, scrum ceremonies, and feature documentation. Design technical solutions to business use cases, write technical documentation that captures those solutions, and be prepared to defend solution choices to the team. Leverage AI tooling to enhance SDLC processes and deliver fixes and new features efficiently.
Qualifications:
  • As part of your work at ISI, you will potentially have access to sensitive information from the federal government. Pursuant to applicable regulations, ISI requires that all candidates for this role present proof of U.S. citizenship before hire.
  • 4+ years of experience architecting, building, deploying and maintaining web applications
  • 2+ years of experience in full-stack web development
  • Experience using AI tooling such as Claude, Codex, or an equivalent service to develop enterprise software
  • Proficiency in front-end development using React.js and related technologies
  • Strong programming skills in Kotlin or other JVM-based languages
  • Experienced with relational databases using SQL, specifically Postgres SQL
  • Strong experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs, with a focus on secure integration, scalability, and clear documentation.
  • Experience with LLM integrating AI into SaaS platform.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced Agile environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members at all levels
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field, or equivalent work or military experience
  • Experience with AWS architecture and services such as EC2, S3, ECS, Lambda, and RDS.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices and compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST SP 800 series, DFARS, or equivalent
  • Any experience with FedRAMP controls implementation for cloud platforms would be a plus
  • Experience integrating AI features in business applications
