Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified mid-level engineer in our construction group. This position offers an excellent opportunity for upward mobility within a growing firm.
Description
Construction Inspection (Primary Focus)
  • Lead projects and/or perform on-site inspection and documentation of WisDOT or other client highway and bridge construction projects.
  • Verify contractor compliance with WisDOT standards, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Track quantities, review pay applications and maintain accurate daily records using WisDOT reporting systems.
  • Communicate directly with contractors, WisDOT staff, and project team members to resolve field issues.

Design Support (Secondary Focus)
  • Use Autodesk Civil 3D to prepare plan sheets, revisions, and technical exhibits for WisDOT projects.
  • Assist with roadway and structure design tasks as needed.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions and verify contractor submittals.

Project & Team Support
  • Lead or provide day-to-day support to project managers and engineers across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with WisDOT, local municipalities, and internal team members to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Handle multiple deadlines while producing high-quality work in both design and field environments.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide guidance for staff, promote company growth, and advance current processes.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of a four-year technical degree in a civil engineering related field or comparable education with relatable experience.
  • Familiarity with Wisconsin Department of Transportation and local agency procedures. (preferred)

Technical Knowledge
  • Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D (preferred)

Professional Skills
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Computer literacy, including use of relevant communication and file organization software.
