Description

The Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) Administrator serves as the SME for the on-premise Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform - in this case MIM (Microsoft Identity Manager). This role focuses on ensuring data integrity across disparate internal systems, maintaining the health of the MIM sync engine, and managing the full lifecycle of internal identities without external cloud dependencies.

You will own day-to-day MIM operations, harden and extend automation, and partner with engineering and operations teams to keep identity data accurate, auditable, and reliable across all downstream consumers.

Responsibilities

  • MIM Engine Management — direct oversight of the MIM Synchronization Service including configuration of Management Agents (MAs) for Active Directory, SQL, file-based extensions, and LDAP sources.

  • Identity Lifecycle Automation — implement and refine the Joiner-Mover-Leaver process to ensure automated provisioning and de-provisioning across the internal network.

  • Declarative Provisioning — maintain synchronization rules and attribute flow within the MIM Portal and Sync Engine.

  • Custom Extension Development — write and debug custom DLLs in C#/.NET for complex logic that cannot be handled by standard rules.

  • Data Reconciliation — conduct regular audits to ensure identity data in the Metaverse matches authoritative sources and downstream consumers.

  • OS/DB patching and maintenance, application patching and upgrades, configuration changes, and troubleshooting/correction/restore as needed.

  • Maintain data integrity and data flow across MIM and integrated systems.

  • Connect to and administer MIM SQL instances (FIMService and FIMSync), including backup and restore.

Skills Requirements

  • MIM/FIM hands-on experience.

  • Advanced PowerShell, including use of the MIM Workflow Activity Library (MIMWAL) and general administrative scripting.

  • SQL Server administration — not DBA-level, but strong working knowledge of connecting to SQL instances/databases, running queries, and backups.

  • Strong SQL query authoring skills.

  • Windows Server infrastructure: general knowledge of AD DS, DNS, and Group Policy.

  • C#/.NET — ability to write and maintain custom code for Rules Extensions and workflow activities.

  • Ability to handle flat-file integrations (or ability to learn quickly).

  • MS SQL OS/DB patching, maintenance, troubleshooting, correction, and restore.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).

  • Experience or familiarity with PowerSyncPro.

  • Experience or familiarity with SailPoint or Saviynt.

  • Experience with hybrid identity, federation, or directory migration.

  • Experience with auditing, reporting, and compliance tooling for IAM.

Compensation Employment Policy

Salary is determined by multiple factors, including location, education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $160,000 – $182,000 (annualized USD).
