Pay Range: $97,646.64 to $146,469.96
Actual pay will be based on various factors, such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, proficiency for the role, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, Kwik Trip gives 40% of pre-tax profits back to our coworkers with bonuses ranging from 8-12% of each coworker's gross annual wage depending on company profitability and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more.

About the Role
As a Software Developer 3, you'll provide vision, mentorship, and technical leadership to our software development team. You'll guide the development and support of IT solutions that drive Kwik Trip's growth and help us serve our customers, coworkers, and suppliers. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on innovation, best practices, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate software developers to ensure effective and successful development efforts
  • Share programming and analyst expertise, guiding the team in adopting new technologies
  • Recommend development tools, advanced technologies, and industry best practices
  • Coach developers on effective AI-assisted workflows and continuously improve how the team uses AI on complex work without lowering quality
  • Analyze business needs, develop specifications, and design, write, test, and implement software solutions
  • Document technical specifications, user guides, and training materials
  • Develop logical programs with normalized database design and user-friendly interfaces
  • Use and help advance AI-assisted software development as a normal part of design, coding, testing, and documentation, including recommending tools and practices that improve delivery
  • Perform thorough unit, system, and integration testing
  • Design and implement new CI/CD workflows tailored to project needs
  • Maintain and support applications, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements
  • Participate in rotating 24/7/365 on-call support
  • Coordinate and manage medium to large projects throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare and present recommended solutions to users and executives
  • Create project scope, plans, timelines, and communication strategies
  • Lead project teams and manage resources

What We're Looking For (Required)
  • Associate degree in Software Development or related field
  • 4 to 6 years of application programming experience, including system analysis and working with users to define requirements
  • Knowledge of database design, application architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
  • Strong proficiency with C#, .NET, and SQL
  • Experience building user interfaces using Blazor or a similar component-based front-end framework
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience developing and consuming REST APIs using JSON
  • Experience authoring unit tests and integration tests
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of regular software delivery (for example, coding, refactoring, test authoring, or documentation)
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure
  • Practical experience with Git and CI/CD workflows (build, test, deploy automation)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or an equivalent tool
  • Strong understanding of modern SDLC practices (agile development, code reviews, branching strategies, version control workflows)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Even Better If You Have (Preferred)
  • Strong business orientation and understanding of key business operations
  • Experience with project management concepts and web technologies
  • Experience coaching or mentoring others on effective AI-assisted workflows, with attention to quality, review, and responsible use
  • Experience building Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
  • Experience with additional programming languages or legacy technologies such as PHP, Java, XML, SOAP, Stored Procedures, or FTP
  • Experience designing or building Azure-native solutions, such as Azure Functions, App Services, Storage, Key Vault, or Event Grid
  • Experience designing or maintaining advanced CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with environment provisioning, monitoring, infrastructure automation, or cloud optimization practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Project)

Work Schedule:
Full-time, Monday through Friday, daytime hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, along with participation in an on-call rotation.
Onsite in La Crosse, WI with hybrid flexibility available after the review period.
