What is this career opportunity?
State Information Technology Division Microsoft Solution Engineers design and develop solutions to complex system problems or administration issues.  They are responsible for maintaining the systems that drive the State of Montana's information technology infrastructure.  The incumbent will be responsible for working with other engineers within the division to implement, manage, and support Microsoft technologies, such as Dynamics 365, Active Directory, Exchange, Skype for Business, SharePoint, and Windows Server. 

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science related field;  

  • 3 years' experience developing IT solutions to meet business needs; 

  • 3 or more years' experience managing a corporate exchange or email environment

  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

Competencies:

Knowledge of:  

  • Microsoft Exchange On Premise and Online 

  • Microsoft PowerShell 

  • Microsoft Teams 

  • Microsoft Office 365 

  • LDAP and Active Directory 

  • VMWare VSphere  

  • Desktop Technology 

  • Microsoft Windows Server OS 

  • Computer Networking 

  • Database structure 

  • Microsoft Visual Studio 

  • Proofpoint Secure Email Gateway 

Ability to: 

  • Develop and implement IT solutions that span multiple technologies

  • Work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues and respecting team members 

  • Provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations 

  • Resolve service issues in a timely manner 

  • Assess architectural risks and develop mitigation strategies 

  • Comfortable performing demonstrations for customers

  • Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
