Job description

Must be based in Houston, TX or Denver, CO. 1 week in office, 1 week remote schedule.
We're seeking a Power Automate Specialist with deep expertise in Microsoft Dynamics, Model-Driven Apps, and SAP integrations to modernize and optimize our finance and accounting automation landscape. This individual will play a key role in assessing, redesigning, and governing workflow automations supporting core financial processes. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong business process understanding to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient automation across the enterprise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. INVENTORY & ASSESSMENT
• Conduct a complete review of all existing Power Automate workflows and Power Apps used across Finance & Accounting
• Analyze integrations between Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, and other connected systems to identify efficiencies and gaps
• Document current-state workflows, data flows, and dependencies; assess redundancy, reliability, and compliance with financial controls
• Create a prioritized improvement and modernization roadmap for financial automation
2. STANDARDS & GOVERNANCE IMPLEMENTATION
• Develop and implement enterprise standards and best practices around Power Platform architecture, naming conventions, documentation, and security
• Define access and data control structures aligned with financial compliance standards (such as SOX, GDPR, and internal audit requirements)
• Establish a governance model for workflow development, approval, maintenance, and version control-ensuring changes are auditable and traceable
• Collaborate with Finance leadership to integrate approval hierarchies consistent with accounting policies and segregation of duties principles
3. DEVELOPMENT & MODERNIZATION
• Refactor, streamline, and optimize existing Power Automate flows that support financial processes
• Design and develop new Power Automate solutions integrated with SAP (via connectors, APIs, or middleware) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations systems
• Implement real-time or scheduled data synchronization flows to ensure consistency across systems
• Leverage Dataverse and Model-Driven Apps to centralize key process data, improving visibility and audit readiness
• Ensure automations are built following financial compliance controls and audit requirements
4. TRAINING & KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
• Develop a Finance & Accounting Automation Playbook detailing workflow architecture, security, and maintenance protocols
• Conduct hands-on training sessions for finance users, controllers, and analysts to empower them with self-service automation capabilities
• Lead knowledge transfer workshops to upskill internal IT and finance operations teams in Power Platform best practices
• Establish regular governance check-ins to review workflow change requests, performance metrics, and compliance adherence
Qualifications
• 5+ years designing and developing solutions using Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps (Model-Driven), and Power BI
• Proven experience integrating with SAP systems (through connectors, APIs, or RPA) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
• In-depth understanding of Dataverse (Common Data Service), entity relationships, and data modeling for financial workflows
• Strong understanding of financial systems and accounting processes, including GL, AP, AR, and expense management
• Experience establishing governance frameworks, version control, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps)
• Familiarity with security and compliance standards relevant to finance operations (SOX, internal audit, data governance)
BUSINESS & GOVERNANCE SKILLS:
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting operations, KPIs, and period-close requirements
• Proven ability to document and communicate complex technical workflows in business-friendly terms
• Experience in implementing governance and change-management processes for automation across finance functions
• Ability to collaborate across Finance, IT, and Audit teams to align process automation with financial controls
