Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client is looking for a Data Engineer in the Greater Saint Louis, MO area. This role is contract-to-hire, with a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite/week).
Summary:
Our client is undergoing a major CRM and admissions transformation initiative, implementing Technolutions Slate as the central platform for managing the entire admissions lifecycle. As part of this modernization effort, they are seeking a Data Engineer to serve as the primary resource for data architecture, integrations, migration, and governance.
This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the new platform is built on a clean, scalable, and future-ready data foundation. The position will focus on data conversion, integration development, data lake design, and enterprise data strategy. Additional responsibilities include supporting AI readiness initiatives, data governance compliance, and data security efforts across the organization.
Responsibilities:
* Partner with stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and data requirements
* Design, build, and maintain data lakes, integrations, and scalable data solutions
* Lead data migration and system integration efforts across enterprise platforms
* Support AI readiness, data governance, security, and compliance initiatives
* Develop data transformation, validation, and automation processes
* Troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines, integrations, and system performance
* Manage system upgrades, enhancements, testing, and technical documentation
* Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on strategic data initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
* 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft data technologies, including Azure Database services and Power Platform
* Experience designing, building, and maintaining enterprise data solutions
* Experience developing and supporting system integrations and data migration projects
* Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, star schema design, and data lake architecture
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Technolutions Slate or other CRM platforms
* Experience with AI readiness initiatives, data automation, and cloud technologies
* Strong SQL skills and experience with Python or other scripting languages
* Experience working within higher education or other complex enterprise environments
* Familiarity with data governance frameworks and security best practices
Desired Skills:
* Experience creating technical documentation and process workflows
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services and data management tools
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
