Job description

Big Data Manager

As our Big Data Manager, you will manage two to three teams of data scientists attached to business units within our organization. You will manage change both internally on your own teams and externally with the business units you serve. You're focused on bringing value to the organization and hungry to Identify opportunities and create solutions to improve decision making and operations.

What You'll Do

  • Every day, you will check in with your teams through stand-up meetings. It's critical that you know your team inside and out, especially when it comes to knowing when to push your team harder or when you should step in and help.
  • Your teams sniff out the problems in their assigned business units, not only finding opportunities for improvement using data, analysis, and new technologies but also managing change in that unit. You may stay with a unit for years or you may have a timeline that ultimately ends in a new assignment.
  • You should be prepared to present not only to your teams but also to the business unit and to upper management, ready to prove the value your team adds to the organization.

What You'll Need

  • To thrive in this role, you must have a thorough understanding of iterative development, project management, and quality data science.
  • You have the tenacity to suss out opportunities, root causes of problems, and devise creative solutions while convincing people that this is a change they need to make. You have a drive to innovate processes and the resiliency to work through any resistance to needed change.
  • You have leadership experience that includes guiding a team and executing a result, both on budget and on time.
  • You can code in SQL, and have experience with Python, R, and Tableau, and are proficient in analyzing and interpreting statistical data.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$194,300.00 - $259,100.00

Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
