Location: Hybrid in St Charles, MO (3 days onsite, 2 remote)
Job type: Contract-to-hire (beginning with 6-month contract term)

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining systems for collecting, storing, and analyzing data at scale from disparate sources. This role collaborates with stakeholders across the organization to ensure data environments meet business and user needs. Responsibilities include technical support, system upgrades, documentation, integration monitoring, and maintaining security configurations.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting and data analysis objectives.
  • Design, implement, document, and maintain data lakes and related architectures.
  • Prepare the data environment for artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and usage.
  • Recommend solutions or alternative methods to meet business requirements.
  • Provide technical support to department users of data systems.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation including user manuals and technical guides.
  • Manage system upgrades and enhancements, including testing and documentation updates.
  • Troubleshoot data access and manipulation issues and provide timely solutions.
  • Develop and implement security policies and ensure compliance with governance standards.
  • Create algorithms and data validation methods to transform data into actionable insights.
  • Monitor system and integration performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of system-related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors regarding upgrades, fixes, and integrations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with Microsoft Data Products, including Azure Database and Power Platform.
  • Strong understanding of university or business data processes.
  • Experience with database design, star schema modeling, and data lake configuration.

Skills
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft data management tools and Azure administration.
