Kentro is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Journeyman Cybersecurity Engineer to support the implementation and sustainment of User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) capabilities for the Zero Trust initiative at U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
In this role, you will support the integration of the Visibility and Analytics and Automation and Orchestration pillars by assisting with deployment, configuration, engineering, and cybersecurity operations. Working alongside senior engineers and government personnel, you will help enhance detection capabilities, automate security workflows, and support enterprise cybersecurity initiatives across the USSOCOM environment.
Location: Onsite in Tampa, FL
Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft UEBA and SOAR capabilities within the Zero Trust architecture.
  • Collaborate with government personnel, senior engineers, and other support contractors to integrate cybersecurity technologies and capabilities.
  • Assist with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process by developing, maintaining, and updating required security documentation and artifacts.
  • Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities throughout the Authorization to Operate (ATO) lifecycle.
  • Assist cybersecurity assessors during security assessments and compliance activities.
  • Interpret and implement DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other cybersecurity requirements.
  • Participate in the configuration, testing, and tuning of Microsoft Sentinel analytics rules, automation playbooks, and security monitoring capabilities.
  • Support the integration of Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Entra ID, Logic Apps, and other enterprise security technologies.
  • Perform security assessments and assist with the remediation of vulnerabilities across enterprise systems and network infrastructure.
  • Document technical solutions, operational procedures, and engineering changes.
  • Troubleshoot cybersecurity issues and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineering support as required.
  • Contribute to process improvements, standard operating procedures, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while supporting mission requirements and customer objectives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Three (3) plus years of experience in an enterprise and/or cybersecurity-focused environment
  • Experience with Microsoft enterprise environment administration and engineering.
  • Experience with Enterprise Security (ES) operations and configurations.
  • Experience with Microsoft UEBA/SOAR telemetry integration, workflow engineering, and tuning
  • Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, MS Defender, Purview, Entra, Logic Apps, and Behavior Analytics
  • Proficiency with Unix and Windows environments.

Required Certification:
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II (or DoD 8140 equivalent) certification (Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft certifications such as SC-100: Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect; SC-200 Microsoft Security Operations Analyst
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Java, Perl, .NET).
  • Familiarity with developing and deploying operational and security use cases within Splunk.
  • Familiarity with DoW & NSA Zero Trust Guidance
  • Familiarity with DoW RMF ATO process and answering controls
  • Familiarity with USSOCOM SOFNET

Clearance Requirement:
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI)

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or communicate with coworkers, management, and customers via phone, email, or virtual meetings, including occasional presentations.
