Job Summary:
Teledyne Brown Engineering provides enabling technologies for industrial growth markets requiring advanced technology and high reliability. The Technical Writer will create, develop, plan, write, and edit operational and instructional documents, translating technical information for nontechnical users while collaborating with various stakeholders for accurate content.
Responsibilities:
• Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
• Maintain records and files of work and revisions
• Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel.
• Confer with customer representatives, vendors, plant executives, or publisher to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publications.
• Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
• Observe production, developmental, and experiential activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
• Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
• Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision making.
• Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods or reproduction and binding.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related disciplines and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write detail, advance reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Access and Adobe Systems.
• US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.
• Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately +/- 10 %.
Preferred:
• Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
• Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)
