Job description

Job Title: Facility Assistant
Location: 75 Shore way Road - Suite A, San Carlos, CA
Duration: Long-term, Onsite

Shift time : (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
 

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Facility Assistant to support daily operations in a dynamic pre-clinical biotechnology laboratory. This role works closely with Scientists, Research Associates, and the Lab Manager, providing hands-on exposure to next-generation sequencing, cell engineering, antibody discovery, and single-cell microfluidic platforms. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and able to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shipping and receiving activities.
  • Unpack, label, and log incoming reagents, consumables, and products in order management systems.
  • Maintain, organize, and stock laboratory consumables and supplies weekly.
  • Serve as a greeter and escort for laboratory vendors (lab coats, chemicals, medical waste, deliveries).
  • Change out chemical gas supplies as required.
  • Assist with equipment installations and lab expansion activities.
  • Reorganize and optimize lab spaces for efficient use.
  • Maintain accurate labeling of equipment and assets.
  • Create and update inventory maps for fridges and freezers.
  • Prepare lab areas for demonstrations and maintain overall cleanliness and organization.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional technical/laboratory training is a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year of laboratory or facilities support experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with SAP or ERP systems a plus.
  • Prior shipping/receiving experience highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and follow SOPs.
  • Professional communication skills to interact with internal staff and external vendors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate a pallet jack.
