Sterile Lab Microbiology Technician

The Sterile Lab Microbiology Technician supports the laboratory's sterility testing operations by performing sample preparation, data entry, and routine lab maintenance. This role assists senior microbiologists, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and maintains the integrity of sterile testing procedures and laboratory operations.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in checking method suitability for sterility tests, ensuring compliance with established cGMP, cGLP, and SOP standards.
  • Prepare and organize samples for sterility testing, including proper handling, aliquoting, and storage.
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, and media, ensuring accurate measurements, proper handling, and storage.
  • Enter, verify, and maintain test data in laboratory information systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Perform general maintenance, cleaning, and care of laboratory equipment, glassware, and utensils to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain clean and organized laboratory areas, including stock rooms and workspaces, while following proper biohazard waste disposal procedures.
  • Assist microbiologists with equipment maintenance, cleaning, and routine lab operations.
  • Track, document, and manage sample data, including receiving, logging, and inventory control using first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices.
  • Participate in routine lab maintenance and inventory checks to ensure operational readiness.
  • Follow sterile lab safety protocols and maintain compliance with Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) standards.
  • Communicate effectively with Quality Assurance, Client Care, and internal teams to support workflow efficiency and laboratory objectives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Relevant laboratory experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of microbiological techniques, sterile lab protocols, and sample handling.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions precisely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) and sterile environments preferred.
  • Physical dexterity to perform testing accurately and precisely.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in reading, understanding, and complying with company policies and SOPs, including safety rules and regulations.
