Job Summary: 

The Micro Quality Technician is responsible for conducting microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, environmental swabs, and finished beverage products. This role supports food safety monitoring programs, sanitation verification, and product release decisions through timely and accurate laboratory testing. The ideal candidate has experience working in a food or beverage quality lab with knowledge of aseptic technique and standard microbiological methods. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform microbial testing (e.g., APC, yeast/mold, coliforms, Enterobacteriaceae) on product and environmental samples 
  • Prepare media, testing by pour plate and membrane filtration, reading back results and recordkeeping 
  • Document results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
  • Monitor, maintain and calibrate lab equipment 
  • Support environmental monitoring through water sampling, swabbing, and air plate collection to support sanitation verification programs 
  • Assist in investigating microbial out-of-spec results and corrective actions 
  • Ensure compliance with Good Labatory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety standards 
  • Housekeeping and inventory of Labatory  
  • Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, food safety, and quality standards, including GMPs, PPE requirements, and hazard reporting 
  • Perform all other duties or tasks as assigned by management to support departmental or company objectives. 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 

  • Micro Testing Accuracy: Percentage of microbiological tests completed without errors or retests required.  
  • Sample Reporting Timeliness: Percentage of sample reports submitted within the designated timeframe. 

Required Qualifications: 

Education & Experience: 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in microbiology, Food Science, or related field preferred 
  • 1-2 years of experience in a food or beverage quality lab preferred 
  • Familiarity with basic microbial plating and identification methods 

Skills & Competencies: 

  • Proficient in aseptic technique and sample handling 
  • Attention to detail and time management 
  • Strong team collaboration and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and communicate findings clearly 
  • Knowledge of lab safety and good laboratory practices
