Job description

Practice Areas: Private Clients, Corporate & Real Estate, Commercial Litigation

The Opportunity: Build Something Special
If you are a high-performing attorney who feels like a number in a large firm, or if you are tired of being siloed into a single niche without client contact, MHR Lewis offers a different path. We are a highly sophisticated boutique firm that handles complex, high-stakes matters with the agility and personal touch that only a small, elite team can provide. We are looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Associate who doesn't just want to "bill hours," but wants to build a career, a reputation, and a book of business.

Who You Are
The Entrepreneur: You don’t wait for instructions. You see a need and fill it. You are motivated by the idea of growing a practice and eventually managing your own clients.
The Sophisticated Generalist: You enjoy the variety of shifting between a real estate closing, a corporate transaction, and a strategic commercial litigation filing.
The Relationship Builder: You genuinely enjoy people. You understand that law is a service business and you are eager to network, attend events, and cultivate professional relationships.
The Craftsman: You have impeccable credentials and take immense pride in your writing. Your briefs are persuasive, and your contracts are airtight.

Your Role & Responsibilities
Direct Impact: You will have direct client contact from Day 1. You won't be hidden away in your office; you will be at the table.
Transactional Execution: Lead and support corporate formations, structuring, private client matters, and real estate transactions.
Strategic Litigation: Handle commercial and business litigation matters, from drafting pleadings to appearing in court.
Business Development: We don’t just "allow" networking – it’s expected and we support it. You will be encouraged (including financially) to begin building your own book of business with the firm’s full mentorship.

Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in corporate, real estate, or litigation (ideally a mix).
Exceptional writing and communication skills.
Admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York (or the ability to waive in).
A "Self-Starter" Mindset: You are comfortable working independently and are highly organized.

Why MHR Lewis?
We offer the sophistication of a large firm without the bureaucracy. You will work directly with the founding partner, receive genuine mentorship, and have a clear, merit-based path for growth. We value independence, intellectual curiosity, and a drive to succeed.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
Retirement: 401(k) plan with profit-sharing opportunities.
Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
