As a MEWP Operator, your daily tasks usually include conducting pre-operation safety checks on equipment, maneuvering mobile platforms to required heights, and safely assisting crews with installation, maintenance, or repair work at elevation. You’ll collaborate closely with site supervisors and team members to ensure tasks are completed according to safety protocols. Operators must remain vigilant about surroundings, potential hazards, and changing weather conditions that could impact job safety. This role often requires adaptability in dynamic work environments and a commitment to ongoing safety training. With experience, MEWP Operators may have opportunities to take on supervisory roles or specialize in complex operational tasks.
A MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) job involves operating equipment like scissor lifts or boom lifts to safely reach elevated work areas. Workers in this role are responsible for maneuvering the platform, ensuring safety compliance, and sometimes performing tasks such as maintenance, installation, or construction work at heights.
