Job description

Outside Sales Representative – Commercial & Industrial Doors (Washington DC Metro)

Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (DC, Northern Virginia, Maryland) | Employment Type: Full-Time | Compensation: $80,000–$100,000 Base Salary + Commission | Company Vehicle Provided

About the Role

We are hiring an experienced Outside Sales Representative / Business Development Representative (BDR) / Territory Sales Manager to own and grow end-user business in the Washington DC market, including Northern Virginia (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William) and Maryland (Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring).

This is a full-cycle, field sales / outside sales role: you will be out in the field, driving to customer sites, prospecting new business, building relationships, and taking deals from first contact through close. You will sell industrial and commercial door solutions — including overhead doors, loading dock equipment, rolling steel doors, sectional doors, high-speed doors, fire doors, and related service and maintenance — backed by an established operations and service team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect, cold call, and develop new end-user accounts throughout the DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland territory
  • Drive to customer sites daily — warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, property management firms, government contractors, retail, healthcare, and commercial real estate
  • Proactively hunt new business rather than wait for inbound leads
  • Manage the full sales cycle end-to-end:
    • Initial outreach, cold calling, door-knocking, and relationship building
    • Needs assessment, on-site walkthroughs, measuring, and solution scoping
    • Preparing and presenting proposals, quotes, and bids
    • Negotiating and closing deals
    • Smooth handoff to operations, service, and installation teams
  • Grow revenue within your DC Metro territory by:
    • Expanding share of wallet with existing accounts
    • Identifying and winning new accounts in target verticals
    • Building long-term customer relationships and recurring service business
  • Collaborate with internal teams — technicians, service managers, dispatch, operations, and leadership — to ensure jobs are scoped accurately and customer expectations are met
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, activity, and forecast data in CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Represent the company professionally in the field, at industry events, and with customers
Ideal Background & Experience

We are flexible on background — strength in either B2B sales or the door / dock / building products industry is required (ideally both):

  • Preferred profiles include:
    • Experienced outside B2B sales rep from construction trades, building products, roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, garage doors, overhead doors, dock equipment, fencing, glass and glazing, security, fire protection, or similar — willing to learn the commercial door industry
    • Door industry, dock equipment, or related trade professional (technician, service manager, installer, estimator) ready to move into outside sales
  • Proven track record of:
    • Hunting new business and building a book from scratch
    • Working independently, managing your own schedule, calendar, and territory
    • Owning the sales cycle from prospecting through close
    • Hitting and exceeding sales quotas
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with face-to-face selling, cold calling, and consultative selling
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (this is a field-based, driving role)
  • Proficiency with CRM software, Microsoft Office, and mobile sales tools
  • Based in or willing to commute throughout the DC Metro area
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 depending on experience
  • Uncapped Commission — top performers earn well into six figures
  • Company vehicle provided
  • Company laptop and mobile phone
  • Gas card and RAM fuel / expense cards (moving away from traditional credit cards)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Ongoing product, industry, and sales training
  • Clear path for career growth into senior sales, key account, or sales leadership roles
What We're Looking For
  • A self-starter and hunter who thrives in the field, meeting people, and building a book of business
  • A strong closer who can own the process from prospecting through signed contract
  • Someone coachable who can learn our product line and industry (if not already from the door, dock, or building products space)
  • A long-term builder — this is a role where earnings and customer relationships compound over time, not a transactional, quick-turn position
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, accountability, and a strong work ethic
