Tenure/Tenure-Track Position for Aerospace Science and Engineering
Fall 2025
Job Summary
The College of Engineering (CoE) at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL) invites nominations and applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position (open rank) in the general area of space science and engineering. The primary appointment will be in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, which houses ongoing work in advanced aerodynamics and propulsion, green energy, advanced materials and manufacturing, and space science and engineering. The University of Miami's College of Engineering has embarked on university-wide strategic initiatives related to the University's Roadmap to the Next Century. The search is open to all areas of space science and engineering. Applications combining advanced modeling techniques and experiments are of particular interest. Some areas of emphasis include but not limited to: aerodynamics, propulsion, flow control, experimental fluid mechanics, energy transfer process, sustainable energy, system control and dynamics, satellite systems, satellite data interpretation, and space sciences and technologies. The college is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. The successful candidate is expected to be able to contribute to one of the CoE initiatives, the Miami Engineering Autonomous Mobility Initiative (MEAMI) or other relevant areas.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate should have an earned Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant engineering or science discipline with demonstrated records or potentials to establish a strong and sustaining research program. The selected candidate will be expected to teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Senior faculty will be expected to play a leadership role within his/her department, and to promote interdisciplinary research throughout the University in the field of space science and engineering.
