What does a metal processing company do?

A metal processing company specializes in transforming raw metal materials into finished or semi-finished products for use in various industries. This often involves processes such as cutting, shaping, welding, casting, and surface treatment to meet specific client needs. These companies may work with metals like steel, aluminum, copper, and alloys, providing essential components for construction, automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors. Their services ensure metals are fabricated to precise standards, ready for assembly or further manufacturing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Metal Processing Company, and why are they important?

To thrive in a metal processing company, you need a solid understanding of metallurgy, manufacturing processes, and safety protocols, typically supported by a relevant technical diploma or degree. Familiarity with CNC machines, welding equipment, and quality control systems, as well as certifications like OSHA safety training, are commonly required. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities help individuals excel in this environment. These skills and qualities are crucial for maintaining production efficiency, safety, and high-quality output in metal processing operations.

What are typical daily responsibilities for someone working at a metal processing company?

Employees at a metal processing company typically handle tasks such as operating machinery for cutting, shaping, or finishing metal products, inspecting materials for quality assurance, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Depending on the specific role, you may also read blueprints, collaborate with engineers or quality control teams, and follow strict safety protocols. Teamwork and clear communication are important since many projects require coordination between machine operators, supervisors, and logistics staff.

Our client, a well-established recycling and metal processing facility located in Pompano Beach, is seeking dependable Crane Operators to support nightly warehouse and production operations. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to build a long-term career within the recycling and industrial sector while gaining hands-on experience operating remote-controlled crane systems.

Job Description

The Crane Operator will be responsible for operating remote-controlled overhead cranes inside the warehouse facility to move, load, and organize recyclable metal materials throughout the production area. This is not a driving position, as operators will control the crane remotely from designated operating stations within the warehouse.

Operators will support production flow by safely handling materials, feeding conveyor systems, loading production areas, and assisting with overall warehouse operations.

This position requires strong attention to safety, awareness of surroundings, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced industrial environment. Candidates must be flexible, as schedules and shift hours may vary according to business needs and production demands.

The first three weeks of training will be completed during the day shift before transitioning to the overnight schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate remote-controlled overhead cranes safely and efficiently inside the warehouse.
  • Move and organize metal materials throughout production areas.
  • Load materials into designated processing areas and containers.
  • Monitor crane operations to maintain safe production flow.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain safe operating procedures around employees and production zones.
  • Assist with keeping work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow all company safety policies and operational procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and production teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations.

Qualifications

Previous crane operator, machine operator, or industrial equipment experience preferred.
Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or industrial environments is a plus.
Ability to work overnight shifts and extended hours when required.
Willingness to complete initial training on day shift.
Ability to work in an industrial warehouse environment.
Strong awareness of safety procedures and surroundings.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.

Benefits & Opportunities

Full-time position with overtime opportunities available.
Temp-to-permanent opportunity based on performance and attendance.
Hands-on equipment training and industry experience.
Stable work environment with growth potential.
