Job description

Salary: $22-$25/hr

Scrap Metal Processor

We are looking for a dependable, hands-on Scrap Metal Processor to join our scrap yard team. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active, helping customers, and working around equipment and metal recycling operations.


Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with unloading scrap metal from vehicles and trailers
  • Sort scrap metal by type and place materials in the correct yard locations
  • Prepare metals for processing using equipment such as balers, shears, forklifts, telehandlers, wire strippers, torches, and plasma cutters
  • Sweep, shovel, blow, and perform general yard and equipment clean-up
  • Weigh materials on the scale and complete customer tickets as needed
  • Prepare vehicles for processing, including trash removal, designated part removal, and fluid removal/reclaiming
  • Work safely in a fast-paced outdoor environment

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must have steel-toe boots
  • Able to work 40+ hours per week, with overtime as needed
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods
  • Able to lift, move, and handle heavy materials as needed
  • Comfortable standing for long periods and working in loud environments
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Able to follow verbal directions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards preferred
  • Previous customer service or scrap metal experience helpful, but not required


Schedule

  • Full-time, 40+ hours per week, Monday Friday, 8am-4:30pm
  • Overtime may be required as needed
