Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating a variety of brake press, punch press, and laser equipment in a clean manufacturing environment. The Machine Operator reads and interprets detailed blueprints, adjusts machines to precise specifications, and ensures that all parts meet quality standards. The position also requires regularly lifting heavy stainless steel components and working efficiently across multiple brake presses throughout the week.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate brake press, punch press, and laser equipment according to job specifications and production schedules.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints to determine machine settings, part dimensions, and required tolerances.
- Adjust machine settings, tooling, and fixtures to meet specified measurements and quality requirements.
- Troubleshoot presses and related equipment to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, and protractors to verify part dimensions and ensure accuracy.
- Inspect finished parts for quality, identifying defects or deviations and making necessary adjustments.
- Lift and position heavy stainless steel pieces (50+ lbs) onto machines on a consistent basis.
- Operate multiple brake presses over the course of the week, maintaining productivity and consistent output.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and improve processes where possible.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment setting up and operating brake press, shear press, or laser equipment.
- At least 2 years of experience troubleshooting presses and resolving basic mechanical or operational issues.
- At least 2 years of experience working from detailed blueprints and using measuring tools such as tape measure, square, and protractor.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a consistent basis.
- Proficiency in brake press setup and operation.
- Ability to perform machine setup, including tooling changes and adjustments.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating Cincinnati presses.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a production environment.
- Solid understanding of basic shop math and measurement.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to different machines and processes as needed.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean manufacturing plant with a strong focus on safety and organization. You will work with brake presses, punch presses, lasers, and related measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, and protractors. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, providing a four-day workweek. The dress code includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a t-shirt, suitable for a hands-on production environment that involves regular lifting and handling of stainless steel parts.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
