Job description


Job Summary:
In collaboration with Construction Operations Leadership, Sales Leadership and other Regional Fabrication Managers and under the supervision of the Vice President of Construction Operations - Sheet Metal, this position will be primarily responsible for the oversight of the operations, strategic planning, and personnel management of all regional sheet metal shop leadership and fabrication services within the assigned regional area(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Regional Operational Leadership: Lead and oversee sheet metal fabrication operations across assigned regional locations to drive productivity, quality, and full alignment with corporate strategic goals.
  • Talent Development & Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing shop leadership teams, managing succession planning, performance management, and workforce strategy.
  • Production & Resource Management: Optimize regional fabrication execution, including workforce allocation, production scheduling, material flow, and workflow efficiency.
  • Quality & Code Compliance: Establish and enforce strict operational standards, ensuring full compliance with QA/QC protocols, applicable building/mechanical codes, project submittals, and weld procedures.
  • Safety & Risk Mitigation: Enforce Safety Department protocols across all shop personnel, proactively identifying and mitigating operational risks related to equipment, materials, and production methods.
  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Oversee shop budgeting and financial planning across the region in partnership with the VP of Construction Operations to maintain cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Field Leadership, Procurement, Logistics, and Labor Relations to ensure smooth material flow, aligned execution, and optimal customer outcomes.
  • Labor Relations Management: Lead regional labor relations engagement, maintaining strong partnerships and ensuring strict compliance with collective bargaining agreements and modified work programs.
  • Project Oversight: Provide active leadership and oversight on complex, high-profile fabrication projects, participating in key milestone reviews from kick-off to closeout.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement and scale best practices, processes, and innovative solutions to continuously enhance overall operational performance and regional capacity.

Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
  • Strong understanding and ability to apply SMACNA's Duct and Industrial Construction Standards and other industry related Manuals including SMACNA's duct cleanliness guidelines.
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, including specialty exhaust, vendor supplied systems and air moving equipment as well as current industry fabrication practices
  • Advanced ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and building/mechanical codes.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams in a multi-site or regional environment.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in business and construction software, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and industry tools like Procore or Bluebeam.
  • Working knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements applicable to construction environments
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • 15+ years of experience in construction, including 5+ years in sheet metal fabrication
  • Extensive experience in a leadership or management role overseeing multiple direct reports.

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree or certification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced fabrication technologies such as Status, Trimble, or Autodesk AEC Collection.
  • Proficiency in Spanish

Travel Requirements:
Travel required 25-50% of the time to other regional branch offices and facilities.
Hours:
This is an exempt position. Work hours commensurate with the construction industry's requirements. Work schedules are determined by operational needs and project milestones, often requiring flexibility outside of standard office hours to support regional shop activities and business objectives.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
  • Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms

Pay Ranges: In line with the corresponding area CBA agreement.
