Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Shop Hand is responsible for assisting skilled production personnel with the fabrication, assembly, finishing, and movement of materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This position is ideal for individuals seeking a career in metal manufacturing and fabrication.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping floors, removing scrap material, and keeping the fabrication and assembly areas orderly.
- Follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety and quality standards.
- Move and organize raw materials, tools, and finished products throughout the shop.
- Perform basic material preparation, including cleaning, grinding, sanding, and deburring metal parts.
- Assist fabricators, welders, machinists, assemblers, and finishers with daily production activities.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely
- Assist with the packaging, labelling, and preparation of products for shipment.
- Support inventory and material handling activities as needed.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and shop procedures.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
- Have a positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or general labor experience is helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry at least fifty (50) pounds.
- Ability to work in an indoor or outdoor environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery.
