Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Artist is responsible for creating digital illustrations / designs and 3D models for use in the manufacturing of precious metal products. The artist will also work closely with sales and customer service to create original designs and assist with answering customer inquiries. The artist will work closely with engraving to ensure model files meet requirements for die cutting and tooling processes. Working under the direction of the Art and Design Manger this position will also assist in new product development requiring the ability to communicate effectively across all facets of the organization specifically manufacturing, design, sales and marketing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Apply knowledge and expertise to prepare complex artwork including 2D/3D renderings and models from customer-supplied materials and ideas, in order to fully represent the customers design concept and product vision.
Ability to use the computers and other digital tools to design, illustrate and create 3D bas relief models for use in die cutting and tooling.
Work with customer service, manufacturing, and NPD to provide specifications and design proposals to customers requesting assistance and guidance.
Assist in the new product development process.
Help ensure new products are tested and approved by customers and manufacturing prior to final product production.
Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize projects using independent judgment, creativity, and technology.
Gather, compile information for reports reflecting new and existing product development activates as requested.
Perform duties in accordance with the organization's policies as well as adhere to all applicable laws or regulations.
Perform other job-related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Strong drawing, design and 3D modeling
  • Ability to effectively use Adobe Creative Suite; Illustrator, photoshop, etc.
  • Experience using any of the following 3D modeling software is a plus; Zbrush, Rhino, ArtCam
  • Adept in Microsoft office applications; Word, Excel
  • Concept and graphic design skills
  • Able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with all departments, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to function as part of a team. Experience with following direction and paying attention to details.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk, push, pull or bend as needed.
  • Must be able to wear all or any required protective safety equipment.
  • Must be able to provide reliable attendance, employee must be able to be at work on time and be ready to work at start of shift each day.
  • Must be able to work weekends, rotating schedules and extended shifts if needed.
  • Must be bondable (if applicable).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate or bachelor's degree in an art focused major preferred.Classically trained with advanced level drawing skills desired.Two years of experience or related training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
As an employee you may be required to work in cool to extremely hot environments. There is potential for exposure to fuels, oils, cleaning solvents and fumes from machinery.PPE and or job specific safety equipment may be required.
