Job description

Allen Architectural Metals is expanding our finishing division. We are looking to fill both full time and part time positions to assist on wide range of custom metal projects. These technicians will be working with our team during all stages of the construction process. Successful applicants must be detail oriented, comfortable using hand and power tools, working in variable climates, and in multiple locations. Artists, metal workers, and those with interest or experience working in preservation are encouraged to apply.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Ability to communicate with technical conservators, project managers, and clients
  • Assess and interpret project requirements for finishing
  • Develop finishing techniques and procedures for current and future projects
  • Execute finishing procedures by applying best practices
  • Ability to safely execute finishing requirements while maintaining the highest quality in standards.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in construction, art/architecture preservation, metals, carpentry, finishing, painting, or related fields
  • A mature team player who works well in a collaborative environment but confident enough to complete tasks unsupervised
  • Appreciation and attention to fine-detailed work
  • High school diploma, associates or 4-year degree in a craft, design, or related field a plus or 2+ years of similar or related job experience
  • Motivated to learn new skills and processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physical shop and/or field environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience reading or creating design/construction drawings is a plus
  • Experience with color matching and mixing is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and organize your work
  • Ability to solve problems and employ time management
  • Skill with tools
  • Lift at least 30 lbs and be comfortable working on scaffolding
