Mercy Circle is a vibrant continuing care retirement community sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, located on Chicagoโ€™s south side. We provide a full continuum of careโ€”independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursingโ€”to adults 62 and older in a mission-driven, person-centered environment.


We are seeking a detail-oriented, service-driven Registered Nurse to join our leadership team as the Assisted Living Clinical Manager. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible leadership role responsible for overseeing our 44-apartment Assisted Living community while partnering closely with and reporting to the Director of Nursing to support clinical operations across Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing.


What Youโ€™ll Do


As the Assisted Living Clinical Manager, you will combine clinical expertise with leadership and operational oversight to ensure exceptional care and a positive resident and staff experience.


Leadership & Operations

โ€ข Lead the day-to-day clinical operations of the 44-apartment Assisted Living unit

โ€ข Supervise, coach, and support nurses and nursing assistants in care delivery and daily responsibilities

โ€ข Conduct daily staff huddles and routine rounding to ensure effective communication, address concerns, and maintain high standards of care

โ€ข Foster a collaborative, resident-centered culture that reflects Mercy Circleโ€™s mission and values


Staffing, Scheduling & Development

โ€ข Plan, coordinate, and adjust schedules for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs across Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing

โ€ข Proactively manage staffing needs, call-offs, and coverage to ensure safe, high-quality care

โ€ข Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of clinical staff

โ€ข Conduct staff training and development programs to promote clinical excellence and professional growth

โ€ข Complete staff performance evaluations, providing feedback and supporting ongoing development


Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

โ€ข Ensure compliance with Illinois state regulations and federal CMS guidelines

โ€ข Monitor care quality and outcomes, ensuring services meet professional nursing standards

โ€ข Lead chart audits, quality improvement initiatives, and participate in QAPI activities

โ€ข Support and participate in the annual state survey process

โ€ข Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, accidents, and resident falls, ensuring proper documentation and implementation of corrective actions


Clinical & Resident Care

โ€ข Oversee resident assessments, service plans, and admissions coordination

โ€ข Provide education to residents, families, and staff

โ€ข Step in as needed to provide hands-on clinical care in staffing gaps


Collaboration & Support

โ€ข Partner with the Director of Nursing to support Skilled Nursing operations

โ€ข Participate in leadership initiatives to improve resident satisfaction, employee engagement, clinical outcomes, and census


On-Call Support

โ€ข Provide 24/7 on-call support as needed and participate in rotating clinical on-call coverage


Qualifications

โ€ข Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois

โ€ข Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

โ€ข 5+ years of nursing experience, including 2+ years in an Assisted Living leadership role

โ€ข Knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations

โ€ข Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills

โ€ข Experience with dementia care (preferred)

โ€ข CPR certification and computer proficiency

โ€ข Flexibility and a hands-on, team-oriented approach
