Position Summary

The Substitute Teacher supports Covenant Christian Academy’s mission by providing effective classroom supervision and instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher maintains continuity of learning by implementing lesson plans, fostering a positive and orderly classroom environment, and modeling Christian character in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues. This role requires flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting the spiritual, academic, and relational development of students.

• Follow teacher lesson plans and classroom procedures with consistency and professionalism.

• Maintain an organized, productive learning environment that supports student engagement and achievement.

• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when serving in a variety of grade levels, classrooms, and instructional settings.

• Communicate effectively with campus administrators and staff regarding student needs, classroom activities, and any concerns that arise during the school day.

• Cultivate a student culture grounded in reverence for God, respect for others, and responsibility for the community, reflecting the core values of a Christ-centered environment.

• Honors each student as an image-bearer of God, addressing discipline and challenges with dignity, a restorative mindset, and a commitment to parent collaboration.

• Respond to individual needs with wisdom, compassion, and discernment, offering timely support rooted in both grace and truth.

• Participate in the broader ministry of CCA by contributing time, talent and treasure beyond assigned role responsibilities.

• Demonstrates consistent spiritual growth that is evident through Christ-centered words, actions, and attitudes.

• Participates faithfully in a local church, engaging in worship, fellowship, and spiritual accountability as part of a committed Christian life and CCA’s covenantal approach.

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
• Supervise students throughout the instructional day, maintaining a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
• Manage student behavior according to school policies and classroom expectations.
• Take attendance and complete other classroom administrative tasks as directed.
• Communicate relevant information regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities to the regular classroom teacher and administration.
• Follow all school safety, emergency, and operational procedures.
• Assist with classroom transitions, duties, and supervision assignments as directed.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the school’s mission and operations.

• A mature and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ consistent with CCA’s Statement of Faith.

• Active participation in a Bible-believing church.

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.

• Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
