Job description

Position Overview

FUJIFILM Electronic Materials, U.S.A., Inc. is a global leader in chemical solutions that enable the semiconductor industry and digital universe. We have an exciting opportunity at our North Kingstown, RI facility for a Product Engineer.

The Role

The Product Engineer will develop and support new and existing business within the Photopolymer product lines, with a strengthened emphasis on lithographic performance, photoresist behavior, and semiconductor process requirements. The Product Engineer will strongly collaborate with all functions to meet customer needs and will work closely with and take direction from the business management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Business Director, Product Manager, and Product Development Managers in implementing strategic plans for new differentiated products that meet evolving lithographic and photopolymer performance requirements, consistent with SBU strategic plans.
  • By interacting directly with leading-edge customers, assimilate and present current and anticipated market, lithography, and product performance requirements for current and upcoming technology nodes.
  • Strongly collaborate with Research & Development and Manufacturing to drive new product introductions according to customer lithography timelines, process windows, and performance targets.
  • Support the product development process for new products by collaborating with R&D teams to meet internal development protocol requirements, external customer lithographic data requirements, and government regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate responses to customer inquiries for technical information for new and existing products, particularly those involving lithography, photoresist behavior, process conditions, and material interactions.
  • Assist the regulatory department in chemical parameter and synthetic interpretation of product compositions for communication supporting regulatory filings, assessments, and modeling.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality Engineers on change control validation, capacity increases, business continuity planning, quality improvement initiatives, and cost reduction projects.
  • Drive projects with industry partners aligned with key lithographic and product technical requirements.
  • Manage and support change projects at key customers, including those related to lithographic performance, process windows, and material qualifications.
  • Manage and support statistical production data reviews at key customers for new and existing products, including lithography-related metrics where applicable.
  • Lead select product quality improvement projects internally and task force projects with customers, with an emphasis on enhancing lithographic robustness, CDU performance, and material consistency.
Requirements Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) strongly preferred, particularly with coursework or research in semiconductor materials, polymers, or lithography.
Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in lithography, photoresist materials, semiconductor materials development, or a closely related advanced materials discipline with a Bachelor's degree; or 2+ years with a Master's degree; or PhD with relevant research experience.
  • Experience with companies that formulate chemicals for electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, or microelectronics is strongly preferred.
  • Direct resist chemistry or lithography experience is ideal, but strong adjacent semiconductor/materials experience may be considered.
Technical Competencies
  • Foundational knowledge of photoresist chemistry, polymer systems, lithography process flows, and factors influencing lithographic performance.
  • Familiarity with FAB processes such as spin coating, exposure, PEB, and development.
  • Experience with SEM imaging, CD analysis, and defect inspection is a plus.
  • Ability to apply statistical methods, DOE approaches, and data modeling to optimize product performance.
  • An understanding of semiconductor manufacturing requirements, including LER/LWR, resolution, sensitivity, and CD uniformity.
  • Strong technical communication, documentation, and project management skills.
