Job description

Responsibilities
  • Execute assigned transactions through proposal, review, and negotiation of NBAs and Definitive Agreements, acting as Lead for opportunities as assigned by the Vice President of Global Business Development.
  • Collaborate with key Functional Area Leads (R&D Finance, R&D Global Project Team Leader, Business Development, Legal, and others) and Senior Management to secure alignment on key terms prior to and during active negotiations.
  • Communicate activities across the organization through related internal approval committees, sharing key contract terms and the strategic, financial, scientific, and commercial rationale for each opportunity.
  • Respond to inquiries from Corporate Finance, Tokyo Business Development, Oncology, R&D, and other stakeholders; engage with other pharmaceutical licensing groups; conduct proactive product searches; coordinate search efforts to identify opportunities to enhance the pipeline; summarize conclusions and recommendations for senior management.
  • Schedule and lead due diligence meetings with potential partners; provide strategic alliance management to monitor compliance and address issues; train and develop junior staff.
  • Lead deal teams, coordinate with commercial, R&D, finance, supply chain, IP, legal, and other functions across geographies; oversee diligence and present recommendations to senior management.
Education Qualifications
  • MBA with a strong finance focus preferred; Master’s Degree considered; PhD, MD, or JD acceptable if accompanied by proven leadership in large transactions. Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience Qualifications
  • 10+ years in the pharmaceutical industry with prior Big Pharma experience; track record in leading complex Oncology-focused negotiations to closing; independent transaction leadership and deal-sheets required.
  • Experience leading Co-development/Co-commercialization agreements, joint ventures, clinical trial agreements, divestitures, in-/out-licensing, acquisitions, and venture investments; ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Branded Oncology transactions experience; companion diagnostic contracting expertise strongly preferred; matrix leadership experience preferred.
  • Travel willingness up to 30% (domestic and some global).

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. Frequent overnight travel as required by the deal process; domestic; some global.
