POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr Merchant, Women’s Apparel is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive sales, profitability, and market share across the women’s apparel business. This role combines customer insights, trend forecasting, assortment planning, financial acumen, and cross functional leadership to deliver compelling product assortments that align with BYLT’s positioning and objectives.

The ideal candidate is a strategic merchant with a strong understanding of the women’s fashion market, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape. This individual is highly analytical, customer focused and passionate about delivering an exceptional product experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Merchandising Strategy

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies that align with BYLT goals and customer needs
  • Build category plans that maximized sales goals, gross margin, inventory productivity and customer engagement
  • Identify growth opportunities through market analysis, customer insights and competitive benchmarking
  • Lead milestone meetings and assortment reviews
  • Partner with Design and Product Development to review prototypes

Assortment Planning

  • Lead assortment architecture
  • Determine product mix, pricing architecture, color strategy, size assortment and lifecycle management
  • Partner with Design and Product Development to influence product creation and line development
  • Review product performance and recommend assortment adjustments to optimize results

Financial Management

  • Own and manage sales, margin, inventory, and goals for the Women’s business
  • Analyze performance using key metrics
  • Develop forecasts and recommend actions to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Support open-to-buy planning and inventory optimization

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, Fashion or related fields
  • 7-10+ years of merchandising experience in apparel (multi-channel preferred)
  • Strong analytical and financial skills
  • Deep understanding of apparel product lifecycle and sourcing timelines
  • Proven experience developing assortments and merchandising strategies
  • Proven ability to drive profitable growth and manage assortments
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
