We're a growing fintech company focused on delivering innovative payment processing solutions and merchant technology that helps businesses lower costs, earn more, and operate with confidence.We are looking for a dependable and analytical Risk Analyst I to monitor merchant activity, identify potential fraud or financial exposure, and help protect the company and our merchant partners from unnecessary risk. This role will review transactions, investigate unusual account activity, evaluate risk factors, and determine appropriate action within established guidelines.The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable using sound judgment to identify and resolve potential risk.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Review merchant applications to evaluate credit, financial, operational, and compliance riskInterpret consumer and business credit reports, corporate registrations, bank statements, financial statements, tax returns, processing statements, and other supporting documentsVerify the accuracy and completeness of information provided on merchant applicationsComplete business verification and additional research using internal tools and third-party resourcesApprove, pend, decline, or escalate applications based on company policiesAssign appropriate merchant risk ratings and document the reasoning behind underwriting decisionsClearly communicate pending requirements and follow up on outstanding informationRespond to questions from agents, sales representatives, merchants, and internal departmentsIdentify inconsistencies, potential fraud indicators, and emerging risk trendsNavigate multiple systems to review, update, and track application statusesMaintain complete and accurate underwriting notes and documentationPerform additional duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:2+ years of experience in banking, financial services, merchant services, risk, fraud, underwriting, customer service, or a related environment preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to review information, identify inconsistencies, and recognize potential riskExcellent attention to detail and ability to make thoughtful decisions based on available informationStrong research and investigative skills with a willingness to dig deeper when something doesn't look rightCustomer-service minded with strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle sensitive or escalated situations professionallyComfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and OutlookExperience with payment processing or TSYS is a plusLOCATION: This role requires the employee to work fully onsite at our Anaheim Hills location.SALARY:This role includes biannual profit-sharing bonuses as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, retirement planning, and/or other benefits.
