DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
  • A General Merchandise Manager will organize the planning, organization, and direction of the activities of the General Merchandise (GM) Department.
  • Know and have the ability to cost out all material to determine proper retails.
  • Plan the development and growth of all department personnel by insuring regular implementation of company training, evaluation, and counselling procedures.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others all fundamentals of grocery production. This will include stocking, facing, stacking, unloading, organizing and finishing.
  • A General Merchandise Manager will plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Assist management with cross merchandising ideas with other departments.
  • Maintain effective control of department labor and inventory in line with established budgets and guidelines.
  • Maintain effective department security in compliance with company policy and directives.
  • Maintain an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas at all times as it relates to the GM Department. Also, maintain awareness and concern for the company's interest and investment at all times through the regular practice of sound, honest judgement.
  • Conduct the receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising of all GM products.
  • A General Merchandise Manager will maintain a high level of coordination and communication with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of products and service throughout the store and within the GM operation.
  • Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.

MINIMUM AGE: 21 Years
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
