Job description

The Role

The Senior MEP Estimator/Preconstruction Lead will report to the Preconstruction Director. The Senior MEP Estimator/Preconstruction Lead will be responsible for responding to RFP’s/bid opportunities, attending site visits/pre-bid meetings, developing/completing detailed takeoffs, developing/completing proposal packages, developing/completing estimates, participating in comprehensive internal bid reviews & submitting bids for all types of Industrial Projects throughout the United States. The Senior MEP Estimator/Preconstruction Lead will support the Preconstruction Department with takeoffs, subcontractor/supplier solicitations/evaluations/selections, estimating & proposal development, internal bid reviews but also support Operations with internal project turnovers/handoffs, budgeting, planning, scheduling & procurement/contracting of subcontractors/suppliers. This position will be a remote, work from home position with limited travel for site visits/pre-bid meetings.

Key Responsibilities

· Takeoffs

· Subcontractor/Supplier solicitations

· Developing/completing proposal packages, responding to RFP’s/bid opportunities

· Developing/completing estimates, sometimes utilizing minimal available information

· Providing detailed analysis of estimates, scopes and plans

· Generating detailed reports to support estimates

· Preparation of Basis of Estimates (BOE)

· Writing Technical Execution Plans/Technical Work Plans or Approach

· Support writing Site Specific Health and Safety Plans (SSHASP)

· The ability to transition the estimating product and effectively turnover to the project team & management

· Working with the project team & management developing scopes of work

· Working with the project team & management with subcontractor/supplier RFP’s & procurement/contracts

· Working with the project team & management to incorporate various input, plans & approach

· Working with the project team & management to improve strategies

Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years MEP estimating experience for industrial/complex commercial projects is required. Experienced electrical estimating with mechanical background is preferred but not required

· Experienced estimating in the nuclear industry is not required

· Experienced estimating in industrial plants/power generation plants is preferred but not required

· Experienced estimating union labor projects is preferred but not required

· Ability to be a self-starter

· Ability to complete tasks with minimal direction and/or supervision

· Ability to process vast amounts of information in shorter time periods

· Successful track record of completed estimates and good performance reviews

· Ability to schedule and manage tasks effectively

· Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

· Risk management including identification & analysis

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Cost control and budgeting skills

· Teamwork and motivational skills

· Organizational and multitasking skills

· Proficiency with InEight/Hard Dollar and/or HCSS/Heavy Bid estimating software/programs is not required but is a plus

· Proficiency with Primavera/P6 scheduling software/program is not required but is a plus
