Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated food & beverage Catering Manager to lead catering and event services across our venues. Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, this role is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while overseeing event execution, client relations, staffing, financial performance, and operational excellence.

The Catering Manager will work directly with clients to plan events, execute, and oversee all aspects of food service for the events. The manager will also oversee service staff, collaborate on menus and banquet event order creations, build strong client relations, and coordinate logistics to ensure high-quality, profitable, and smooth operations. This position requires strong organizational skills, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. The Catering Manager plays a critical role in upholding standards, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting the overall success of the Food & Beverage Department. 

The Catering Manager focuses on the planning and execution of the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre events while simultaneously supporting the planning and execution of the South Okanagan Events Centre events. 

This role pays an annual salary of $50,000-$65,000 CAD

About the Venue

The Penticton Trade and Convention Centre offers 60,000 square feet of flexible meeting and exhibit space in the heart of BC's wine country. As the Okanagan's only full-service convention centre, the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre seamlessly hosts meetings, conventions, banquets, special events, and trade and consumer shows. The Penticton Trade and Convention Centre is part of the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) Complex.

The South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) Complex is the Okanagan's premier destination for sports, entertainment, business, and community events. The complex includes the South Okanagan Events Centre, Penticton Trade and Convention Centre (PTCC), Memorial Arena, and Okanagan Hockey School Training Centre. Together, these world-class facilities offer more than 95,000 square feet of event space, three ice sheets, and the ability to host everything from major concerts and sporting events to conferences, trade shows, weddings, and galas.

Responsibilities
  • Build strong client relationships and oversee events from initial consultation through post-event follow-up.
  • Lead and coordinate all catering and food & beverage operations, including banquets, bars, concessions, and special events.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor team members while fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Manage budgets, inventory, purchasing, and labor costs to achieve financial targets.
  • Ensure exceptional service standards and promptly address guest feedback.
  • Collaborate with culinary teams on menu development and product offerings.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, liquor licensing, and food service regulations.
  • Support sales and business development initiatives to grow catering and event revenue.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of food and beverage management experience, preferably in catering, hospitality, or event venues.
  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Food Service Management, or a related field is an asset.
  • Ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Previous experience training food & beverage staff highly desired.
  • Food-safe certification required.
  • Valid Serving It Right certification required.
  • Ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as laid out by our event schedule.
