Job Summary
The Lead Goaltending Coach is responsible for delivering high-level goalie development programs for athletes of all ages and skill levels. This role includes on-ice coaching, off-ice development, athlete evaluations, video analysis, recruiting, player development planning, and mentorship.
The ideal candidate is passionate about coaching and goalie development, athlete mentorship, and creating exceptional training experiences. This position also serves as a leader for part-time and seasonal staff while helping grow the program through player evaluations, recruiting, and relationship building.
Core Responsibilities
On-Ice Coaching & Goalie Development
  • Lead on-ice goalie training sessions for youth, high school, AAA, junior, and college athletes
  • Create age-appropriate practice plans and skill progressions
  • Teach skating, positioning, save selection, puck tracking, rebound control, puck handling, and game management
  • Deliver high-level instruction while maintaining energy, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Ensure athletes have opportunities to apply skills in competitive training environments

Athlete Evaluation & Development
  • Evaluate current and prospective athletes
  • Create individualized goalie development plans
  • Monitor athlete progress throughout training programs and competitive seasons
  • Provide expert feedback and recommendations for continued improvement
  • Conduct video analysis and hockey IQ sessions with athletes

Recruiting & Program Growth
  • Recruit new athletes and families into the program
  • Communicate with prospective members and explain program offerings
  • Attend games, tournaments, showcases, and other events to identify potential athletes
  • Support promotional events, camps, clinics, and special programs
  • Assist with roster creation and player evaluations for tournaments, holiday skates, and special events

Leadership & Staff Development
  • Lead and mentor part-time and seasonal coaching staff
  • Ensure coaches are following company standards and training methodologies
  • Maintain consistency and quality across all goalie development programs
  • Serve as a positive role model for athletes and staff

Facility & Operations
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment
  • Assist with facility upkeep, workout equipment maintenance, and daily operational needs
  • Support in-season training partnerships with local youth hockey associations

Required Qualifications
  • Playing or coaching experience at the Minnesota High School, AAA, Junior, College, or Professional level

  • Previous goaltending coaching experience
