Job description

Medical Strategy Director

HYBRID NEW YORK CITY

About the Role:

We are looking for a Medical Strategy Director to serve as the scientific conscience of our brand teams and the bridge between clinical data and breakthrough creative. In this role you will translate complex science into strategic platforms that move audiences, partnering closely with account, creative, and client service teams to ensure every idea is grounded in clinical truth and built to perform in market

This is a senior, client-facing position for someone who can hold their own in a room with KOLs and medical directors, then turn that insight into a creative brief that inspires a studio. You will shape the scientific narrative across the brand lifecycle, from data interpretation through to launch and beyond

.

What You Will Do

Lead the development of medical and scientific strategy across assigned brands, spanning HCP and consumer channels

  • Interpret clinical and real-world data, competitive landscapes, and treatment paradigms to identify the strategic opportunities that differentiate a brand
  • Partner with creative and copy teams to ensure scientific accuracy without compromising the strength of the idea
  • Build and defend the scientific rationale behind campaign platforms in client presentations and pitches
  • Develop and maintain deep therapeutic area expertise, serving as a trusted scientific advisor to clients and internal teams
  • Guide medical-legal-regulatory (MLR) submissions, anticipating reviewer concerns and helping teams navigate them
  • Mentor and develop junior medical strategy and scientific services staff, raising the scientific bar across the agency
  • Contribute to new business efforts, including organic growth on existing accounts and pitches for prospective clients
  • Stay ahead of emerging data, congress readouts, and shifts in the treatment landscape within your therapeutic areas

What You Bring

  • An advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) is strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in medical strategy, medical affairs, or scientific services, ideally within a healthcare communications or advertising agency environment
  • A proven track record of translating clinical data into compelling, commercially sound strategy
  • Strong command of the MLR review process and the regulatory environment shaping promotional work
  • The ability to influence both clients and creative teams, balancing scientific rigor with marketing impact
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills, with the confidence to lead client conversations
  • Experience in oncology is a plus
  • A collaborative, generous approach to mentorship and team building

What We Offer

  • A seat at the strategic table on brands that matter, with real ownership and visibility
  • A culture that values scientific integrity as much as creative ambition
  • Clear pathways for growth into senior leadership + amazing benefits

Range is $150K - $200K depending on experience

+ Generous benefits

3-days hybrid in NYC
