Simulation Technology Coordinator who will be all-in on our mission and who performs varied and complex duties in support of the daily operations of the Health Sciences Simulation Center at Amarillo College. This position is responsible for ensuring the functionality, reliability, and effectiveness of simulation technologies and equipment, while providing technical and operational support for simulation-based education and training activities. The Coordinator supports faculty, staff, students, and external partners during simulation events, assists with inventory and resource management, and contributes to the continuous improvement of simulation operations and learning experiences.
QualificationsEDUCATION:Required: Associate's Degree (AAS/AS) with coursework in a healthcare program, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
*A combination of related experience in Simulation, Technology, Audio/Video, Healthcare to equal three (3) years may substitute educational requirements.
EXPERIENCE:Preferred: One (1) year of experience in Simulation, Technology, Audio/Visual Systems, Healthcare, or Postsecondary Education.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Provide technical support for simulation systems, task trainers, and related equipment to ensure the successful execution of simulation activities.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform routine upkeep of computers, audio/video systems, simulation technology, and related equipment.
- Collaborate with Amarillo College Information Technology and simulation equipment vendors to support system functionality, updates, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a point of contact for simulation-related technical support with internal departments, external partners, vendors, and community stakeholders to ensure effective communication and successful event coordination.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, healthcare partners, and external stakeholders to support simulation activities, specialized trainings, and operational needs of the Health Sciences Simulation Center.
- Coordinate with simulation equipment vendors, IT personnel, and service providers to troubleshoot technical issues, schedule maintenance, and ensure system functionality.
- Ensure simulation technologies and systems remain compliant with Amarillo College IT standards, security protocols, and safety guidelines.
- Provide operational and technical support to faculty, staff, students, and external partners during simulation events to ensure seamless execution of learning objectives.
- Coordinate the setup, operation, breakdown, and real-time troubleshooting of simulation technology for instructional activities and external events.
- Manage and maintain the master calendar for simulation center resources, including lab spaces, specialized equipment, and standardized patient scheduling.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to simulation activities, equipment usage, and operational support.
- Organize and maintain educational videos, digital resources, and training materials to ensure accessibility and functionality.
- Assist with inventory management, supply tracking, and equipment maintenance to support operational efficiency.
- Monitor supply usage and assist with ordering equipment, materials, and simulation-related resources as needed.
- Prepare and ensure simulation mannequins, medical trainers, and procedure equipment are functional and ready to meet instructional objectives.
- Assist faculty and staff with simulation scenario setup and ensure all required materials and equipment are prepared.
- Provide recommendations to support budget planning related to equipment, supplies, and simulation technology needs.
- Ensure purchases and operational decisions align with the educational and operational goals of the Health Sciences Simulation Center.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of healthcare clinical environments, simulation technology, healthcare equipment, learning management systems, and/or audio/visual systems.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to computers, simulation technology, audio/visual systems, multimedia equipment, software applications, and educational technology platforms, including real-time support during simulation activities and instructional events.
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and support evolving technologies, software systems, and technical equipment used in simulation-based education.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service skills with the ability to effectively support and interact professionally with faculty, staff, students, healthcare partners, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in computer systems, multimedia technologies, and operational software applications.
- Excellent organizational, project management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and competing deadlines.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and follow technical instructions, operational procedures, and safety guidelines.
Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade
12 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings and may occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, and/or maneuver equipment and supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, primarily daytime hours with occasional evenings and weekends to support simulation activities and special events as assigned.
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office, laboratory, and simulation environment and routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets, simulation technology, audio/visual equipment, and various educational software applications. This position may work in high-traffic environments with continual interruptions and may occasionally work independently with limited supervision.
