Medical Secretary Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with eligibility verification required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Epic EHR experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team members.
  • Ability to multitask and manage administrative responsibilities in a medical office environment.
About the Medical Secretary Role
As a Medical Secretary, your responsibilities will include:
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility for office, hospital, and dialysis services.
  • Contact patients by phone regarding insurance eligibility and related information.
  • Answer phones and assist patients as needed.
