Job description

SUMMARY

Responsible for performing and/or supervision of the daily business office functions and operations of non-provider staff in conjunction with manager.

STATUS: Full-time

LOCATION: WNY- Gastro at Brockport

SCHEDULE: Day Shift

ATTRIBUTES

AAS preferred.
Previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
Computer experience needed with Word and Excel.
Excellent organizational, communication and customer focused skills needed.
Must have excellent keyboard skills and be familiar with the Windows environment.
For Unity Medical Groups ONLY: Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and coding.
For Dental Groups ONLY: Computer experience with knowledge of Epic or dental software preferred.
For Dental Groups ONLY: Two or more years of dental assistant or dental office experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:
For ACT Program in Behavioral Health ONLY: ACT Core Curriculum, Wellness Self-Management Modules must be completed within 6 months of hire.
Two years of medical office experience with computer systems.
Required Licensure / Certification Skills:
None.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Works collaboratively with Manager to ensure monthly/quarterly reporting.

May be responsible for departmental orientation/precepting oversight for new non-provider staff and may assist the manager with preparations for the ongoing and annual performance appraisals of the non-provider staff. Ensures that the annual mandatory in-services are completed by all staff.
Maintains/assists office staffing schedules and provides a procedure for covering absences, including floating of internal staff, usage of per diem and/or temps, and sharing staff between offices.
Provide support to the Manager for accurate completion and timely submission of departmental time sheets/payroll activities.
Attends and/or participates in documented monthly meetings; including developing an agenda for staff meetings and disseminating information to office staff.
Assists with oversight of departmental office supplies within budget.
Performs all functions of medical secretary when necessary. Assumes leadership role in the practice manager absence.
Assists with telephones, appointment scheduling and filing.
Assists with maintaining petty cash fund and change fund.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all internal and external regulator and third party payor requirements, policies and procedures, if applicable.
Reviews/Inputs data of all office charges, including ICD9-CM diagnosis coding of encounter forms where applicable.
For Unity Dental Groups ONLY:
Performs all functions of a dental secretary and dental assistant when necessary.
