Job description

We are seeking Manager for our Laboratory Automation & AI Transformation Lab to join IQVIA Laboratories at Durham, NC.

Job Summary:
Lead the transformation of our ligand binding bioanalytical laboratory into an end-to-end digitally orchestrated and physically automated operation powered by AI-assisted workflows. This role drives the design, deployment, and adoption of new ways of working across sample handling, instrument integration, digital data capture, automated review and reporting, and compliant documentation.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Lead the automation transformation roadmap from concept through scaled deployment
  • Design and optimize end-to-end workflows across sample receipt, preparation, analysis, data capture, review, and reporting
  • Manage change across scientists, Quality Control, and operations by addressing skill gaps, role evolution, and adoption needs
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of automation engineers, scientists, and QC documentation specialists to deliver measurable results
  • Define and prioritize the automation product backlog, including requirements, delivery sequencing, and user adoption
  • Establish effective operating rhythms such as sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and release reviews where appropriate
  • Partner with Quality to implement quality-by-design, validation strategies, change control, and inspection readiness
  • Drive adoption through training, playbooks, ownership models, and clear exception-handling processes
What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering or related field required
  • 5+ years in laboratory operations, lab transformation, automation programs, or digital lab systems.
  • Experience implementing lab automation and/or digital lab platforms, including LIMS, ELN, and instrument integration
  • Familiarity with validation approaches and regulated laboratory environments, including risk-based validation, CSV, 21 CFR Part 11 concepts, data integrity, and audit trails
  • Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

  • Strong leadership capability with experience guiding cross-functional technical teams through complex transformation initiatives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills across scientists, engineers, Quality, IT, and leadership
  • Ability to lead change effectively, resolve resistance through engagement, and build adoption into solutions from day one
  • Lean and agile operational leadership in technical or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows such as automated review, anomaly detection, and report drafting

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $80,200.00 - $167,200.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
