BAI - Global Forecasting Associate Director, Inflammation and General Medicine

The Global Forecasting team at Amgen serves as a strategic partner to Commercial leadership by providing objective, data-driven insights that shape portfolio strategy, investment decisions, and long-range business planning.

As a Global Forecasting Associate Director for Inflammation & General Medicine, you will lead forecasting across a portfolio of global brands spanning pipeline assets and indications. You will partner directly with Marketing, Value & Access, R&D, Medical, Finance, and Manufacturing to develop robust forecasts that inform critical strategic and investment decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

Beyond deeply understanding the market, disease and program, you will provide coaching and day-to-day leadership to another Global Forecaster, helping ensure consistent forecasting approaches, strong business partnership, and high-quality deliverables across the therapeutic area.

This role reports to the Director, Global Forecasting and operates within the broader Business Analytics & Insights (BAI) organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership & Portfolio Leadership

  • Serve as the primary forecasting partner for multiple brands across the Inflammation and General Medicine portfolio

  • Partner directly with the Therapeutic Area Vice President, Global Brand Leads, and senior Commercial leadership to shape portfolio strategy, long-range planning, and investment decisions

  • Develop objective, data-driven points of view by integrating commercial strategy, competitive dynamics, epidemiology, access, pricing, market research, and financial considerations

  • Identify and communicate key risks, opportunities, and strategic trade-offs to support executive decision making

  • Influence cross-functional alignment on complex business questions while constructively challenging assumptions and recommendations

Forecast Development & Strategic Analytics

  • Lead development of robust global forecasts across inline and pipeline assets using assumption-driven patient-based models

  • Apply advanced forecasting methodologies, scenario planning, sensitivity analyses, and simulation techniques to quantify uncertainty and inform business decisions

  • Evaluate competitive landscapes, market evolution, analogs, and external market events to continuously refine forecast assumptions

  • Ensure forecasts provide transparent, rigorous, and decision-ready outputs for leadership

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships across the broader BAI organization, Global Marketing, Finance, Value & Access, Medical, Manufacturing, Commercialization, Pricing, and R&D

  • Lead cross-functional discussions to establish alignment on forecast assumptions, scenarios, and business implications

  • Present complex analyses to senior leadership, translating technical modeling into clear business recommendations

  • Represent Forecasting as a trusted strategic advisor across governance meetings, portfolio reviews, and investment discussions

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to another Global Forecaster, helping prioritize work, develop forecasting capabilities, and maintain consistent forecasting standards across the portfolio

  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across the broader Global Forecasting organization

  • Contribute to talent development, onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives within the team

Forecasting Excellence & Innovation

  • Drive continuous improvement of forecasting methodologies, tools, processes, and governance; explore AI/ML and automation; identifies team capability gaps and builds skills

  • Help shape the future direction of Global Forecasting capabilities by identifying opportunities to advance forecasting through new methodologies, data sources, digital technologies, and AI-enabled approaches

  • Champion standardization and best practices while ensuring forecasting approaches remain fit-for-purpose across diverse brands and market situations

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 3 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

Master's degree and 5 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 7 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

Associate's degree and 12 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 14 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to influence Executive Directors, Vice Presidents, and senior cross-functional leadership

  • Experience leading forecasting across multiple brands or therapeutic areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analyses into strategic recommendations that influence investment and portfolio decisions

  • Experience leading or mentoring forecasting professionals through formal or informal leadership

  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to lead through influence in highly matrixed organizations

  • Experience driving forecasting process improvements and organizational capability development

  • Experience incorporating advanced analytics, AI, and emerging technologies into forecasting methodologies

  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical commercialization, competitive dynamics, pricing, access, and global market evolution

  • 6+ years of forecasting, market research, or business analytics experience in the biopharmaceutical or healthcare industries

  • Experience with advanced forecasting techniques, patient based forecast modeling (including dynamic patient flow models), and experience doing analog and uptake curve analysis

  • Experience with quantitative techniques including smoothing, regression, time series analysis, and simulation

  • Working knowledge of forecasting inputs and structure, global access and reimbursement policies, competitive environment and potential impact on product development and commercialization strategy

  • Experience in contributing to the development of long-term business plans based on forecasting insights

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
