What You'll Do

  • Divide time between Lilly Library on Duke's East Campus (60%) and Perkins Library on Duke's West Campus (40%).
  • Serve as a key resource for overseeing space reservations, internal event planning and logistics, and outreach at Lilly Library.
  • Support service point operations while contributing to broader departmental workflows and service initiatives at both Perkins and Lilly Libraries.
  • Provide guidance and support for student employees, including training and operational oversight.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Duke Libraries to ensure consistent, efficient, and user-centered access to services, spaces, and collections.
  • Work within the Duke University Libraries Event Management System (EMS) to process room reservation requests and calendars.
  • Provide space management support including updating signage, ensuring compliance with room-use policies, and maintaining room configurations.
  • Provide logistical and planning support for East Campus Libraries events.
  • Serve as liaison to campus partners including University Housekeeping, DUL Facilities, OIT AV Support, University Events, and Parking and Transportation Services.
  • Maintain service point shifts providing circulation and basic reference services.
  • Assist with stacks maintenance and processing requested materials.
  • Participate in library-wide committees and projects.
  • Maintain readiness of library spaces, technology, and services.
  • Provide service aligned with the Duke Libraries User Service Philosophy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; able to work independently and as a member of a team; high proficiency using computer-based technology and ability to adapt to new technologies; ability to effectively organize and prioritize daily work; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer services.

Preferred:  Prior experience working in an academic research library, prior supervisory experience, two years of library experience to obtain specialized knowledge of library systems and procedures

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $24.72 to USD $39.57.
