Job description

Position Summary:

The MA assists the physician and mid-level practitioners in providing quality care as delegated. Under general supervision in an outpatient clinical setting, provides initial patient triage, registration, and administrative services. Assists with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, :as dictated by established clinical protocol.

Education:

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Certification or transcript of completion of a Medical Assistant course is required.

Training and Experience:

1. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or transfer to department.

2. One-year experience as Medical Assistant or clinical rotations in a clinic setting is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities desirable but not mandatory.

Job Knowledge:

Requires knowledge of examination, diagnostic, laboratory and treatment room procedures. Requires the ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions. Must be able to read and write medical terminology, as well as possess the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must be able to take and record vital signs, maintain records, and record results.
