Job description

The MA assists the Primary Care Providers in providing quality care as delegated.  This individual is also cross-trained to assist in clerical tasks, waived testing and phlebotomy.

        Qualifications:

 

            A.        Education:

High School graduate or equivalent.  Must have certificate of completion from an accredited medical assistant program (Associate Degree/Ladder Curriculum).  In the process of completing the requirements and qualifications to receive American Medical Technologists Registry.

            B.        Training and Experience:

Minimum of six months experience working as a MA; one year of experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.  Bilingual abilities desirable but not mandatory.  Current BLS Certification required thru the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

A. Ability to perform:

  1. Must be able to work under stressful circumstances

  2. Potential exposure to hazardous substances, cytotoxic agents  

  3. May have varied work hours including weekends and holidays

  4. Sustained standing and walking

  5. Heavy lifting and repositioning patients

 B. May encounter exposure to infectious diseases.
