Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Manager - Space Data Systems.
Reporting to the Director, Campus Planning, the Senior Manager Space Data Systems is responsible for leading the integration of Space Planning + Management applications with other RED+F and enterprise applications, effectively managing the NYU Langone Health System enterprise portfolio drawings and data; supporting all service and reporting requirements; providing critical data to support strategic space planning functions, sharing critical data with other relevant technology solutions as appropriate, and developing those applications with best practices and industry standards.
The Senior Manager Space Data Systems will have a dotted-line reporting to the Assistant Director, Space Planning + Management, and will work in close collaboration with the Space Planning + Management (SP+M) team. They will have the ability to work with a broad range of institutional partners and develop strong working relations, to collaborate closely with colleagues in a collaborative team environment, and have a proactive approach to the definition and production of work products.
Job Responsibilities:
IWMS and Other Database Management and Reporting
  • Builds, manages, improves and updates the NYU Langone Health System Space Inventory, the system of record for location and space data for all properties owned and leased by the NYU Langone Medical Center and other locations critical for NYULMC operations. The Space Inventory consists of an Integrated Workspace Management System (IWMS), its digital drawings and other supporting applications. for.
  • Expands SP+M comprehensive space and location data infrastructure and analytics capabilities and works with RED+F teams and other Health System teams to implement an overarching strategy for data collection, integration, management and analytics.
  • Develops, produces and improves reports or reporting interfaces between RED+F data and other data systems at the Medical Center, including those used by Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology and other departments.
  • Works closely with MCIT support personnel to requirements for moderate-to-advanced information delivery requests and then be able to efficiently and independently translate those needs into specific deliverables (i.e., forms, queries, reports).
  • Assures completeness and accuracy of the Space Inventory to reflect current real estate portfolio, including conducting on-site surveys as required.
  • Develops and maintains space utilization system to track and evaluate space usage and related efficiency of facility resources.
  • Develops data extraction and integration routines involving multiple data sources and complex queries for routine reporting and ad hoc requests.
  • Reports clearly and articulately on problems, issues requirements and potential solutions to team members and clients.
  • Liaises with extended RED+F groups Real Estate & Housing, Design & Construction, Facilities & Operations, Environmental Health &Safety, Clinical Engineering; and the Health System departments of MCIT, SPA, Finance, and HR to ensure accuracy and consistency of data interpretation.

Database Governance (data stewardship, standards, and policies)
  • Participates in and provides support to governance committees, such as the RED+F MCIT Steering Committee, concerning drawings and space data, including location.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of data standards, policies and data collection procedures (Standard Operating Procedures) related to space data management activities.
  • Develops and maintains effective data dictionary documentation.
  • Recommends and establishes conventions and standards related to data storage, transformation and aggregations

Data Quality and Management (quality, integrity, cleansing)
  • Develops data extraction and integration routines involving multiple data sources and complex queries for routine reporting and for ad hoc requests and to compare/reconcile data for quality checks
  • Performs accurate database updates and follow up on query responses and errors identified in data cleaning and data harvesting.
  • Performs regular queries and reports to efficiently identify outstanding and/or inaccurate data collection (i.e., assesses and reports on data outlier values and null fields).
  • Works closely with departments to review and revise data tools.

Geographic Information System (GIS) analytics and management
  • Analyzes spatial data and develops data visualization through GIS software and supports the design of digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets that meets RED+F Space Planning + Management requirements, and potentially that of NYULH enterprise department-specific needs.
  • Interfaces directly with department staff and members to gather geospatial data needs and recommend solutions; collaborates with members of the NYULH GIS community to implement a uniform enterprise-wide GIS information architecture; identify opportunities to maximize potential of geospatial data for

operations, strategic planning, and prediction.
  • Administers relational databases to potentially support enterprise geodatabase hosting.

Other Responsibilities
  • Assists the Department of Real Estate Development and Facilities (RED+F) in space information tracking and reporting.
  • Integrates facilities plans with overall strategic plans.
  • Participates and is directly involved in the development of feasibility studies, and other studies and reports intended for Senior Leadership, Trustees and other Senior Administrators, Managers, Faculty and Physicians; by analyzing, summarizing and presenting findings, through use of reports, planning documents and presentations
  • Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established policies, procedures and objectives, contributing to the promotion of a safe, productive and attractive work environment.
  • Acts as resource to other team members
  • Provides instruction on various technical topics to other Staff members and RED+F groups
  • Functions as a Facilitator role to assist with resolution of operational issues and escalation point for first level technical support RED+F Finance and Administration.
  • Performs other duties as required, including but not limited to participation in councils, quality improvement teams and other such committees.
  • Keeps technical skills up to date and to remain current, through attendance at training courses, seminars
  • Trains staff in RED+F applications managed by SP+M; manages user lists and access profiles for the applications; and develops training and support programs for staff and deputy trainers.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Planning, Facilities Management or equivalent required
  • 10 (ten) years of experience in space planning/space database management with space planning in academic, healthcare, research facilities are required
  • Must be fluent in relevant software and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth understanding of data analytics required managing large data bases, multiple corporations, institutes, etc
  • Proficiency with technology software, including Integrated Workplace Information Management (IWMS) or Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems such as Planon or Archibus, as well as MicroSoft Access, Excel, Word, PeopleSoft and/or similar systems.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $101,493.51 - $175,076.17 Annually.
