Position Summary

This position plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely posting of payments received from patients and insurance companies. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and records management to effectively manage payment processes and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately post payments from various sources, including insurance companies and patients, into the billing system.
  • Review and reconcile payment discrepancies by analyzing patient accounts and communicating with relevant parties.
  • Maintain detailed records of all transactions and ensure compliance with medical coding standards such as ICD-9 and ICD-10.
  • Collaborate with the medical collection team to follow up on outstanding payments and resolve any issues related to billing.
  • Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and coding to assist in the preparation of reports related to payment activities.
  • Ensure that all payments are processed in accordance with established policies and procedures within the medical office.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate medical records by updating patient information as necessary and completing  tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems.
  • Proven experience in a medical office setting, particularly in roles involving payment posting or billing.
  • Familiarity with medical collection processes and procedures is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
