Your work environment at EXP

EXP is currently searching for an energetic Plumbing/Medical Gas Designer for our Markham office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Perform engineering tasks within the plumbing, medical gas & fire protection discipline and develop design documents in collaboration with senior staff
  • Performs complex design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment / direction by Project Manager
  • Performs coordination at a higher level by reviewing drawings supplied by team engineers and the architects to implements design modifications as necessary
  • Research code issues as directed by the Project Manager
  • Perform load calculations
  • Draw piping distribution layout and size appropriately
  • Prepare schedule and detail drawings and enter equipment specifications
  • Understand, layout, and size the fundamental plumbing systems: storm, sanitary, vent, water, natural gas; fire protection and medical gas systems.
  • Select and coordinate the plumbing fixture schedule with client. This includes having the understanding of all of the components needed for each fixture.
  • Understand the scope of SD, DD, CD level documents and be able to prepare and deliver drawings at the appropriate level
  • Ability to manage and deliver revisions (SI's, etc) and sketches
  • Conduct field visits to project sites
  • Utilize CAD, AutoCAD MEP, or Revit to perform engineering work

What your experience looks like

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree/College Diploma
  • 5-10 years of previous plumbing/medical gas design experience
  • Working knowledge of the building code, CSA and NFPA standards
  • Auto CAD and REVIT MEP experience required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products.
