Position Summary

The Job holder will use hand welding and flame cutting equipment to cut, fit and weld or join Stainless Steel pipes. This employee will be expected to meet productivity, safety and quality standards. This employee reports to the shop Foreman and works under their general supervision. The supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priorities. The employee is accountable for work being technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a TIG 6G stainless steel pipe weld test.
  • Minimum Qualification H.S Diploma
  • Broad knowledge and experience working in industrial petro/chemical and commercial construction environments
  • Ability to pass weld tests in accordance with ASME Section IX
  • At least five to eight (s) experience working in pipe welding fabrication or completion of a pipe welding apprenticeship.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Able to operate hand and power tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threader, tube-benders, drill presses, soldering and brazing equipment and welders
  • General safety awareness
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team
  • Able to follow directions, instructions and procedures
